To those who are bereaved,
We want you to know that your sorrow and grief is shared by the whole Parish Family. On an occasion like this, there is little we can say. However, we will support you in every possible way. We will also pray for you and with you.
The Funeral Mass has a clear message of hope. Below you will find a selection of bible readings to choose from. Pick those that have a special meaning for you. Some members of the family may be composed enough to do the readings but, if you feel it would be too difficult, please feel free to ask a member of the funeral team who will be glad to help.
Choose one or two readings. There will be music provided at all funeral Masses and the psalm will normally be sung, but if you wish one of those listed can be chosen and read. You may also wish to discuss an appropriate Gospel reading with the celebrant. During the Mass, some of the family may like to bring up the gifts – this may be less demanding than reading. This page is a web version of our booklet which, gives a selection of prayers of the faithful(bidding prayers) which, again, someone might like to offer. Finally, you will find some Communion Reflections. You may like to choose one and have it read by one of the family, someone from the community or the celebrant.
